వాల్ట్ విట్మన్ రాసిన Song of Myself (1855-1892) ను నేను ఆత్మోత్సవ గీతం పేరిట తెలుగు చేసిన విషయం మీకు తెలిసిందే. ఆ గీతాన్ని మిత్రులకు పరిచయం చేయడానికి చేస్తున్న ప్రసంగాలు ఇవి. ఈ రోజు 30 నుంచి 33 వ సర్గ దాకా చదివి వినిపించి చర్చించాను. ఆ సందర్భంగా యజుర్వేదంలోని చమకంలోని ముఖ్యభాగాన్ని కూడా వినిపించాను. ఆ ప్రసంగం ఇక్కడ వినొచ్చు.

What an apt beginning and conclusion of today’s talk with the subhashitam!!
సంసారాఖ్యవిషవృక్షస్య ద్వే అమృతఫలకే ఇహ
కావ్యామృతరసాస్వాదనం, సజ్జనసంగతిశ్చ
Whitman identifies himself even with the most insignificant beings like a గడ్డి పోచ, ఇసుక రేణువు, even a చిరుకప్ప and sees it as a as a ఉత్కృష్ట కావ్యం.
You said:
“తనయందు, అఖిల భూతములయందు ఒక్కటే ఆత్మ స్వరూపాన్ని చూడగలిగిన training దొరికింది అనుకున్నాక నే “నేను జంతువులతో కలిసి జీవించగలనని’ Whitman అనగలిగాడు.
We can see the evolution in his perception to reach this state of mind.
You discussed how Vedic rushis , Jesus Christ, haiku poets, and Buddhist monks all perceived the same soul in every living being.
Listening to the Whitman’s 33rd sarga as you read it aloud, followed by Rangacharya garu’s Chamakam translation, felt like all these great minds aligned perfectly even across places and times.
