Another superb talk in this series, Sir!!
Although I do not have the Meghasandesam text in front of me while listening, I really appreciate the way you read each slokam, explain the anvaya kramam, prati padartham, bhavam, the alankaram and kavisamayam, and then highlight important words and ideas with such clarity.
The comparisons to other poets and works, and the way you keep unwrapping new layers and dimensions: this has been one fantastic, one of a kind journey with the Megham under your guidance, Sir!!
Kondu bhasha antha gaalinchinaa vesya ane maata vinipinchadu annaru!! This must be the actual paradise where people are not bought and sold with money even when compared to Alakapuri where there is no dukkham and yet there are deva vesyalu!!
యక్షుడు తన ఇంటి దారి చూపడం, ఇంటి ముంగిట తన భార్య పెంచుకున్న బాలమందార చెట్టు, ఇంద్రచాపం తోరణంగా, అరటి తోటల మధ్య ఆడుకోవడానికి ఒక గుట్ట, తామరలు నిండిన దిగుడు బావి, హంసలు, అందమైన తన ఇంటిని ఎంతో ఇష్టంగా చూపడం చాలా బాగుంది.
In that context, it was wonderful to hear about the ancient Chinese poet Bai Juyi’s poem about his village and the tree he planted by the river. Your translation was heart touching. And your personal anecdote about taking your new bride to show her the Kondasampenga chettu, your own happy place : that was simply beautiful. The way you concluded with “Paradise beyond paradise is home” was perfect.
It was a little funny to imagine Yakshudu asking for his wife’s edama Kaali thaapu 😃 — showing just how much he misses her!
Thank you for pointing out the important word “Khatarena Chetasa” to show how nervous Yaksha was as though he himself was meeting her through the megham.
Without your guidance I wouldn’t know to appreciate the beauty in words like “Khatarena “ in this context. Thank you for enhancing Kaavyanandam by explaining everything and pointing out to special words and giving the meaning and much more, sir!
