పుస్తక పరిచయం ప్రసంగ పరంపరలో భాగంగా ఈ రోజు కాళిదాసు మేఘసందేశం కావ్యం పైన ప్రసంగించాను. సుప్రసిద్ధమైన ఈ కావ్యాన్ని చాలామంది ఒక ప్రణయగీతంగా గుర్తుపెట్టుకుంటారు. కాని ఇది ఒక శుభాకాంక్షగీతం. భారతీయ ఆకాశానికి ఋతుపవన ఆగమనాన్ని సూచించే సంతోషగీతం. ఈ గీతంలో కాళిదాసు భువికీ, దివికీ మధ్య, ప్రాకృత, సంస్కృతాల మధ్య, గ్రామాలకీ, నగరాలకీ మధ్య, ప్రకృతికీ, జనజీవితానికీ మధ్య ఒక రసరమ్యసేతువు నిర్మించాడు. ఆ విశేషాలన్నీ ఈ ప్రసంగాల్లో మీరు వినవచ్చు.

The timing of your talk on Meghasandesam is just perfect, as the monsoons begin. The way you introduced this timeless kavyam, along with the genius of Mahakavi Kalidasa and his inspirations from Valmiki, his influence on later poets was truly enlightening. Your explanation of Kalidasa’s pada samyojana in such detail helped me see why this piece of his literature stands the test of time.
Many things you said (before formal education how older generations trained younger generations on these epics/poetry in various cultures and countries) to set the historical and cultural context, helps understand the kaavyam and its purpose (haven’t read it but I am hoping to get insights from the series)
This introduction to Kalidasa Meghasandesam has inspired me to follow the rest of the series. Looking forward to your next session.
