పుస్తక పరిచయం ప్రసంగ పరం పరలో భాగంగా ఈ రోజు ‘స్వప్నలిపి’ కావ్యం మీద ప్రసంగించాను. ఇది కిందటి వారం ప్రసంగానికి కొనసాగింపు. అజంతా (1929-1998) జీవితకాలంలో వెలువడ్డది ఒకే ఒక్క కవిత్వసంపుటి. అందులో కేవలం 29 కవితలు మాత్రమే ఉన్నాయి. వాటిల్లో 1949-1980) మధ్యకాలంలో రాసినవి 10 కవితలు మాత్రమేకాగా, 80-92 మధ్యకాలంలో రాసినవి 19 కవితలు. కాని దాదాపుగా ఒక అర్థశతాబ్దపు అంతరంగ సంగ్రామాన్ని చిత్రించిన ఆ కవిత్వం ఆధునిక తెలుగు కవిత్వంలో అత్యంత ముఖ్యమైన అధ్యాయాల్లో ఒకటి. 1850-1950 దాకా భారతీయ కవిత్వంలో modern దశకాగా, 1950 నుంచీ modernist కవిత్వం మొదలయ్యింది. ప్రసిద్ధ హిందీ కవి గజానన్ మాధవ్ ముక్తిబోధ్ (1917-1964) ఈ కవిత్వానికి ఆద్యుడని చెప్పవచ్చు. కాగా ఆయన modernist దశ దగ్గరే ఆగిపోగా అజంతా post modern దశదాకా ప్రయాణించాడు. ఆ ప్రయాణాన్ని ఈ రోజు ప్రసంగంలో వినవచ్చు.

Sir, absolutely brilliant talk! I spent most of my day listening to it intently. I had heard Sri Ajantha’s name before, but never read any of his works. This was a powerful introduction for me.
Your analysis of his poetry in the context of modern and post-modern literature, along with the parallels you drew to Prophet Jeremiah’s message to his people, added depth to my understanding of the impact Ajantha’s work has in the times we live in.
