పాల్కురికి సోమన రాసిన బసవపురాణంలో బసవన్న భక్తిని ఏ విధంగా వర్ణించాడో మాట్లాడుకుంటూ ఉన్నాం. నిన్నటి ప్రసంగానికి కొనసాగింపు ఈ రోజు ప్రసంగం. బసవన్న వచనాల్లో కనిపించే భక్తిలో ఎక్కడా పరమత అసహనం కనిపించదు. తన భావాలకూ, తాను నమ్మిన దైవానికీ చెందని వాళ్ళ నుంచి ఆయన దూరంగా ఉండాలనుకున్నాడే తప్ప వాళ్ళని నిర్మూలించాలని అనుకోలేదు. తన చుట్టూ ఉన్న సమాజం తాను కొలిచే దైవాన్ని విశ్వసించదని తెలిసినా కూడా ఆయన వాళ్ళమధ్యనే ఉండటానికి ఇష్టపడ్డాడు తప్ప, వాళ్ళకి దూరంగా ఉండాలని అనుకోలేదు. చివరికి ప్రభుత్వోద్యోగం చేసినప్పుడు కూడా తన మతధర్మం, తన ఉద్యోగ ధర్మం రెండూ వేరువేరనీ, ఒకదానితో ఒకటి సంఘర్షించుకోకుండానే చూసుకుంటూ వచ్చాడు. తాను ఏ కొలువులో పనిచేస్తున్నాడో ఆ రాజుకి కూడా ఇదే హితవు చెప్పాడు. తొమ్మిదివందల ఏళ్ళ కిందట జీవించిన ఆ మహామానవుడు నేడు కదా జీవించి ఉండవలసింది!

In the time of religious and political turmoil that Basavanna lived in and the tolerance and magnanimity he exhibited towards the others of different faiths is truly remarkable. His principles are relevant today and that shows he was a visionary.
Sadly we are still living in a world of extreme intolerance towards each other.
