పాల్కురికి సోమన (1160-1240) మహాకవి తిక్కన (1205-1288) కి మాత్రమే కాదు, మరొక పారశీక మహాకవి జలాలుద్దీన్ రూమి (1207-1273) కి కూడా సీనియర్ సమకాలికుడు. అయితే రూమీ కవిత్వం నేడు ప్రపంచాన్ని ఒక మహోద్యమంలాగా ప్రభావితం చేస్తూ ఉండగా, సోమన, తిక్కన వంటి కవులు తెలుగుకి మాత్రమే పరిమితంగా ఉండిపోయారు. తెలుగు పాఠకుల్లో కూడా చాలామందికి రూమీ గురించి తెలిసినంతగా సోమన గురించి తెలియదు. కాని కావ్యనిర్మాణ పద్ధతుల్లోగాని, కథనశైలిలోగాని, ఈశ్వరదర్శనం ఏ కొద్దిమంది పండితులకో కాకుండా ప్రజలందరికీ సుసాధ్యమేనని నమ్మడంలోనూ, చెప్పడంలోనూ కూడా సోమన, రూమీ ఒక్కలాంటివారేనని చెప్పడం ఈ రోజు ప్రసంగం ముఖ్యోద్దేశం.

రూమీ కవిత్వం at least in bits here and there తెలిసినంత సోమన వంటి కవుల గొప్ప కవిత్వం తెలియకపోవడం – what an embarrassment (talking about me)😔
ద్విపద కావ్యం structure కారణంగా ఆ కావ్య రూపాన్ని appreciate చెయ్యలేకపోతున్నామేమోనని చెప్తూ a little bit tweaking might help bring the likes of great poets like Somana to the world just like they did with the English translations of Rumi ani oka solution కూడా సూచించారు. On the same note, art appreciation classes and poetry appreciation classes వున్నట్లు మనకి కూడా వున్నాయేమో తెలియదు కానీ ఇలాంటి classes in our own literature areas school level నుండి నేర్పితే బాగుంటుందనుకుంటున్నాను sir.
Children will learn to appreciate different forms of literature if taught from a young age.
